Fujifilm Invests US$18 Million to Expand Semiconductor Materials Production in Arizona

FUJIFILM Corporation will invest US$18 million to expand its semiconductor materials production capacity at its facility in Mesa, Arizona, responding to growing demand for advanced semiconductor manufacturing materials driven by artificial intelligence (AI).

The project includes expanding production capacity for chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) slurries used in copper interconnects, as well as installing new equipment to manufacture a wider range of products for different semiconductor manufacturing processes, including advanced packaging and hybrid bonding applications.

CMP slurries are abrasive materials used to polish semiconductor surfaces, ensuring the uniformity required for advanced chip manufacturing. Demand for these materials is increasing as semiconductor manufacturers expand production of advanced logic and memory chips.

According to Fujifilm, the new facilities will help accelerate the transition of technologies developed at its Arizona research and development center into commercial-scale manufacturing, strengthening the connection between innovation and production.

The expanded production line is scheduled to begin operations in 2027. The investment is expected to support the company’s medium- and long-term growth in the semiconductor materials market.

Fujifilm will leverage its manufacturing and research network across Japan, the United States, Europe and Asia to meet growing demand for materials used throughout the semiconductor manufacturing process.
