BAJA CALIFORNIA – Currently, 80% of the wood used as raw material in Baja California is imported from the United States or is brought from other entities in the Republic, so it is necessary to invest in sustainable exploitation mechanisms that can better support the industry.
The president of the furniture cluster of Baja California, Vladimir Hernandez, explained that it is necessary to train and invest better in wood production, since the margin of local suppliers in the maquiladora sector is very reduced.
Hernandez added that most of the furniture traded in the region is not local, so companies from other regions of the country or abroad dominate the regional market, lagging local artisans.
