Greatbatch will build second plant in Baja California

Greatbatch Medical Company will end 2015 with 500 more employees, driven by a new expansion and the creation of a second factory of medical devices. Greatbatch at Tijuana, Baja California, has grown significantly, to the point that there are 1,000 staff associates, said Maria Elena Bermudez, Human Resources Manager.

The firm will invest US$35 million to build a second plant to produce implantable medical devices. Bermudez expects that approximately 4.5 million units will be produced by 2015. Greatbatch Tijuana manufactures cardiac rhythm management and neuromodulation devices, as well as implantable orthopedics.
