The Index Juarez Health Committee held the first edition of the Occupational Health and Safety Symposium, with a second day focused on technical updates and analysis of methodologies applied to risk prevention in the workplace. Over two days, occupational health specialists, company representatives, and professionals from different areas exchanged experiences and tools aimed at strengthening occupational safety in industry.
The closing ceremony included conferences on occupational diseases, ergonomics, and return-to-work programs, as well as the presentation of international methodologies for risk assessment. In the presentation “Occupational Diseases,” Dr. Aristeo Calderón Anzures discussed the main physical effects of work and the importance of timely diagnosis accompanied by preventive measures.
Engineer Omar Alonso Galaviz presented the RULA method, a tool that allows for rapid postural assessment to identify musculoskeletal risks in specific tasks. Engineer Nancy Victoria Carreón Rosas participated with two presentations: the first on the OCRA method, focused on the analysis of repetitive movements in the upper extremities, and the second on the NIOSH method, which is used to measure the physical risk associated with manual lifting of loads and propose corrective measures.
The program also included a presentation by Dr. Juan Antonio Calderón Anzures on the return to work of workers who have suffered an accident. In his presentation, he highlighted the need to establish structured plans that consider both medical recovery and productive and emotional reintegration into the work environment.
With these conferences, the first edition of the symposium brought together technical methodologies and experiences aimed at improving safety and hygiene in the workplace. Attendees had access to up-to-date information and practical approaches to apply in manufacturing companies, where ergonomics and prevention have become priority issues in light of the incidence of work-related injuries.
At the end of the meeting, Index Juarez announced that a second edition of the Occupational Safety and Health Symposium is already being prepared for 2026. According to the organizing committee, the objective will be to expand the participation of companies in the region and bring together a greater number of specialists in occupational health and risk prevention.
