HERMOSILLO – The representation of Industria Maquiladora y Manufacturera de Exportación (Index) in Sonora, endorsed the conformation of Confederación Autónoma de Trabajadores y Empleados de México (Catem) in the State.
In this regard, the president of Index in the entity, Gerardo Vazquez Falcon, noted that Catem is a responsible organization that has already formalized some collective labor contracts with the maquiladora industry and 11,500 workers.
Vázquez Falcon stressed that they have already won the CTM’s ownership of several union organizations, which speaks of Catem’s commitment to protect workers, based on authentic leadership.
“Until now, union’s autonomy has been established on their part, which should be based on the respect and responsibility that should prevail between the union organizations and the maquiladora industry,” he said.
