The Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE) and the Institute of Innovation and Competitiveness (I2C) participated in the closing ceremony of the Chihuahua–COMEXUS International Scholarship Program, held at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
The initiative, developed in conjunction with the Mexico–United States Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (Fulbright COMEXUS) and the U.S. Embassy, benefited 27 students from higher education institutions in Chihuahua. The program had an investment of 2.4 million pesos.
For four weeks, participants received training in generative artificial intelligence, with content that included technical fundamentals, practical work with large-scale language models (LLM), prompt engineering techniques, and case studies on the application of this technology in the business world.
As part of the agenda, SIDE Director Ulises Fernández Gamboa visited the university facilities dedicated to semiconductors and critical minerals and held a meeting with authorities from the Eller College of Management. Subsequently, the scholarship recipients presented their projects and received official certificates at the closing ceremony.
The event was attended by the associate dean of Partnerships at the Eller College of Management, Anastasiya Ghosh; the vice president of International Education at the University of Arizona, Jenny Lee; the head of the Political and Economic Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juárez, Matthew B. West; and the executive director of Fulbright COMEXUS, Hazel Blackmore Sánchez.
