Juarez maquiladoras seek to vaccinate their employees

JUAREZ – Given the lack of a date for the private sector to acquire vaccines for its workers, the Maquiladora Association Index Juarez seeks to implement a model that has already been implemented in Tijuana, in which doses donated by the United States were applied in the border.

Fabiola Luna Avila, president of Index Juarez, informed that they are discussing the possibility of bringing the pilot scheme to Ciudad Juarez, in which 10,000 doses were provided to industry employees at a neutral point between both countries.

It is worth mentioning that the process in Tijuana was done with a donation made by the United States at the territorial limit in which no import regulations were violated.

“The vaccines come from the U.S., with binational coordination between authorities, as well as businessmen and maquiladora industries. The support of the Mexican Consulate in the United States, in this case, will be fundamental,” she added.
