Kia Motors Mexico inaugurated its new plant, located in the Municipality of Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon, where its activities represents the 10% of its global production. A car will be produced in less than a minute at this plant and it is expected to reach a record of 300,000 units of the Forte model, per year. The Company informed that the first Forte models will be produced from November 2015 to May 2016, but the normal production will be ready by late June 2016.
It is expected to reach the 100,000 produced units during its first year of operations, but it will reach the 300,000 units, representing a 10% of the production that the Company has in its 10 plants around the world. The 60% of the production in Pesqueria will be exported to the U.S., the 20% will stay in Mexico and the 20% remaining will go to Central and South America. Kia will hire about 4,000 Mexican employees to operate in the production of those 300,000 units.
