KIA inaugurates plant in Nuevo Leon

Chung Moong-Koo, President of Hyundai Motors Group; Jaime Rodriguez Calderon, Governor of Nuevo Leon; Chun Bee Ho, Ambassador to the Korean Republic in Mexico and Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, Federal Ministry of Economy, inaugurated the KIA Motors Mexico plant in the Municipality of Pesqueria

, with a US$3 billion capital investment, prospecting a 300,000 units vehicle production by 2017 (150,000 of the Forte model and 150,000 of the Rio line, both sedan and hatchback versions), mainly for export. This operation represents the creation of 14,000 jobs total, including those at the primary companies and the local supplier base companies. Chung Moong stated that “KIA will respond efficiently to Mexico’s emerging market, as well as the demand from North America and Latin America.”
