JUAREZ, CUU – The lack of industrial buildings available for rent or sale has slowed down new investments in Ciudad Juarez.
According to data from Index, The Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) and Desarrollo Economico del Norte (Denac), there are new companies that want to come to the city, but there are no buildings where they can settle due to the industrial real estate market is full.

According to data from Index, The Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) and Desarrollo Economico del Norte (Denac), there are new companies that want to come to the city, but there are no buildings where they can settle due to the industrial real estate market is full.
Jorge Bermudez Espinoza, president of CMIC, recalled that with the pandemic and the problems in the logistics chain, many companies came to Juarez as a solution to the delay in the transfer of goods, which prompted the construction of new maquilas.
“There is a very large demand from manufacturing industries for the buildings, they are all practically occupied,” he expressed.
Bermudez Espinoza added that although there are some available, they do not meet the requirements for the installation of plants.
“Today’s maquila specifications are not the same as those of 15 years ago, so not all the buildings meet the requirements,” the president of the CMIC added.
Prior to the pandemic, he explained that the tariff war between the United States and China returned maquilas to Ciudad Juarez, since then a growth in this sector was already noticeable.
The representative of the construction companies said that currently there are still industrial parks under development, mainly in the southeast of the city, where the Independencia 21 Complex is being built.
Regarding the number of companies about to open, the executive did not reveal many details, since many investments are carried out secretly due to company policy.
