TEXAS – The Mayor of Laredo, Texas, Victor D. Treviño joined a delegation organized by the U.S. Department of State to visit Peru.
The delegation, led by Ambassador Nina Hachigian, Special Representative for State and Municipal Diplomacy within the Subnational Diplomacy Unit, will travel to Lima, Peru.
Treviño will participate in discussions and make presentations to Peruvian officials, focusing on the positive results achieved through cross-border collaboration. His contributions will focus on key issues such as immigration, border security and international trade.
The trip provides Treviño an opportunity to highlight successful initiatives implemented during his administration, such as the Binational Vaccination and Public Health Program, the International Bridges Task Force, among other programs designed to address regional challenges. He attributes these achievements to a foundation of democratic values, effective communication and a commitment to mutual respect among nations.
“It is an honor to be selected for a diplomatic trip of this magnitude, to share and collaborate with Peruvian officials,” said Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño.
In addition, during the meetings, binational success stories along the border will be addressed, which has allowed us to achieve progress as a region.
