EL PASO – Las Palmas Medical Center opened its US$63 million maternity addition last march 27. The three-story addition, which includes one floor left vacant for future expansion, includes 24 postpartum rooms, a 35-bed neonatal intensive-care unit, and a large waiting area for families.
The new addition, called the Las Palmas Women’s Center, is needed to keep up with the hospital’s growing number of baby deliveries, Las Palmas CEO Don Karl has said.
Las Palmas delivered 2,039 babies in 2018. The addition is located above the hospital’s emergency department, which is across the street from Las Palmas’ main hospital building at 1801 N. Oregon St., in West Central El Paso.
The hospital is owned and operated by HCA Healthcare, a large, national hospital chain based in Nashville.
