MC ALLEN, TX – The City of McAllen and Aeromexico announced the launch of a new daily direct flight service between McAllen and Mexico City’s Santa Lucia International Airport.
The service, which will begin February 2, will offer convenient connections between McAllen and the Mexican capital, a hub for business, culture and tourism. The flight departs McAllen at 9:00 a.m. and arrives in Santa Lucia at 12:00 p.m., while the return flight departs Santa Lucia at 3:00 p.m. and arrives in McAllen at 6:00 p.m.
The service will be operated by state-of-the-art Embraer 190 aircraft, with approximately 6,000 seats offered monthly. The aircraft seats 99 passengers, including 12 in business class.
McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos said the new service is a “great step forward” in improving economic and cultural ties between the two cities.
“This service will improve connectivity between McAllen and Mexico City, opening up new opportunities for trade, tourism and cultural exchange. This is a great opportunity for both cities,” said Villalobos.
Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, McAllen’s city manager, said the new service is “a symbol of both cities’ collaboration and commitment to economic growth and development.”
Jose A. Zapata, Aeromexico’s vice president of sales for North America and Latin America, said the new service is “a response to the growing demand for connectivity between McAllen and Mexico City.”
In addition, Zapata noted that the new service is an important part of the airline’s strategy to expand its presence in the U.S. market.
“We are excited to offer our customers convenient, high-quality service between McAllen and Mexico City. We are proud to offer our customers this new travel option,” said Zapata.
