SAN DIEGO, CA – A few months away from the completion of the Southeastern Live Well Center in San Diego, local artists have been invited by the County to participate in shaping the creative vision of the building.
The space will serve as a service center for the community, so the County is seeking proposals from visual and multimedia artists and will soon be soliciting artwork for the spaces within the building.
Once proposals are received, the Live Well Center’s Public Art Advisory Committee will select artists for the commissioned works. The body includes community residents and leaders of local grassroots organizations, with members representing diverse social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds in Southeast San Diego.
The selected artwork will be placed in the main entrance gallery, meditation garden, hallways, waiting and conference rooms, as well as the 65,000-square-foot family play area of the center.
The County broke ground on the project at the corner of Market Street and Euclid Avenue in October 2021 and is scheduled to be completed during the upcoming summer.
Once completed, the Southeastern Live Well Center will serve the community with a variety of services, including health insurance coverage, food and nutrition assistance, family strengthening services, financial and employment assistance, public and behavioral health, child support, restorative justice, services for older adults and people with disabilities, and military and veterans services.
Artist proposals are due by April 25 and should reflect the County’s commitment to a healthy, safe and prosperous region.
