REYNOSA — During the beginning of this year, the manufacturing industry of Reynosa had a growth of 3% reaching 131,248 jobs, said figure made the city rank 1st place in source of employment and made it as well the city with largest number of companies established in Tamaulipas.
The president of INDEX Reynosa, Enrique Castro Septién referred that according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) shows that Reynosa is the one with the highest industrial development both in the border area and in the state.
He stated that statistics revealed that 152 companies operate in Reynosa in 11 industrial parks that together produce a total of 131,248 direct jobs and the municipality of Matamoros has 111 companies with a generation of almost 60,000 jobs; while the city of Nuevo Laredo has 33 maquiladoras that generate almost 30,000 direct jobs.
Castro Septién mentioned that the expansion of several companies and the installation of a new one in the month of January meant that jobs increased by 3,633 only in the first month of 2019. He stressed as well that the increase of job generation happens to be a result of the enlargements that companies have made, rather than the arrival of new consortiums in the city.
“It is very important for us to maintain this coordination with the main actors of this industry in order to maintain an orderly and positive growth that leads to a positive development for the city and state in Tamaulipas,” he said.
The executive stressed that the manufacturing industry generates 248,633 direct jobs in this entity according to the most recent figure revealed by the INEGI, placing Reynosa in the place followed by Matamoros and Nuevo Laredo in second and third place respectively.
