TAMAULIPAS – The maquiladora industry in Tamaulipas generated the largest number of jobs in the first quarter of 2021, while commerce continues to contract, according to the State Delegation of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). The most productive city is Reynosa, with 7 of the 10 new jobs created in said period.
Given the labor sources created by businessmen, the transformation industry showed a growth between January and March of 2.7%, with 7,923 workers newly incorporated to such activities.
Others with an increase are social and communal services, made up of public administration, educational and health services; sanitation, social assistance, amusement and recreation, among others. Although the figure is 3,657 lower, the percentage variation increased 7% compared to the end of 2020.
In addition, there was a higher demand for vacancies in Transportation and Communications, with the addition of 1,281 formal jobs, both permanent and temporary.
Regarding each municipality, Reynosa tops the list in the highest generation of said sources, with 7,780 citizens incorporated into different jobs, mainly in the maquiladoras where the supply is greater. This was 3.4% higher than in December.
Ciudad Victoria and Nuevo Laredo followed the same trend, closing said period with 1,619 and 1,596, respectively. However, Matamoros and El Mante registered reductions of 0.6% each.
