MEXICO CITY – Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, said that 327 migrants obtained work in maquiladoras.
“To date, there are 327 people already working, which was the main objective, to offer jobs to people who are waiting in Mexico for their audience in the United States,” said Ebrard.
He added, “There was a legal limitation, and Horacio Duarte, undersecretary of Labor, has done what is necessary so that they can work while they are waiting.”
Accompanied by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the foreign minister offered a report on the progress of the plan to contain the migratory flow, and said that on the northern border there are 16 shelters and 3,700 jobs for those awaiting the conclusion of their asylum application.
