Maxion Wheels inaugurates 499 kW photovoltaic system at its Chihuahua facility
CHIHUAHUA – Maxion Wheels, a manufacturer of aluminum wheels for light vehicles, has commissioned a solar photovoltaic system at its plant in Chihuahua, Mexico.
This system, developed and installed by Iberdrola Mexico, represents a key step in the company’s commitment to sustainability and carbon emissions reduction.
With an installed capacity of 499 kW, the system will generate approximately 960 MWh per year and avoid the emission of 420 tons of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to planting and growing 6,930 trees annually.
This project is the third of its kind implemented by Maxion Wheels and is part of its global Roadmap Zero strategy, which seeks to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
“This system embodies our dedication to sustainability and our promise to have a significant impact on reducing emissions,” highlighted Zeferino Neto, president of the Americas Business Unit.
The inauguration event was attended by Maxion Wheels executives, including Zeferino Neto and Alexandre Becker, as well as representatives from Iberdrola Mexico.
Jorge Abraham Cicler, Iberdrola’s Western Region Commercial Leader, emphasized that its Smart Solar system helps companies decarbonize industrial processes while reducing operating costs.
The initiative reinforces Maxion Wheels’ commitment to cleaner and more sustainable manufacturing, aligning with global corporate sustainability goals.
