The Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE), in conjunction with the Chihuahua Mining Cluster (CLUMIN), has launched a call for entries for the “Mining and Prosperity in Chihuahua 2025” award, aimed at mining companies operating in the state.
The award seeks to highlight companies that implement practices focused on strengthening local supply, generating employment, and consolidating production chains. Individuals or legal entities with mining projects in operation or exploration within the state may participate, provided they meet the established requirements.
The evaluation will take into account six aspects: percentage of local content, commitment to regional procurement, supplier strengthening programs, job creation, use of sustainable inputs, and social responsibility in the value chain.
The results will be announced on October 15, and the awards ceremony is scheduled for November in the city of Chihuahua. Participating companies will be classified into two categories: Gold and Platinum. Those who obtain the distinction will have access to training programs, specialized forums, and the possibility of joining the Mining Directorate’s “Supplier Development Program.”
Rocío Flores, director of Mining, explained that the intention is to raise the profile of companies that implement policies and actions aimed at local economic development. For his part, Secretary Ulises Fernández pointed out that mining continues to be an important sector for the state economy and highlighted the importance of promoting a responsible and sustainable industry.
Paola Cázares, president of CLUMIN, said that this initiative seeks to strengthen local consumption and expand the network of Chihuahua suppliers, while promoting sustainable practices within the sector.
The call for applications will be open from July 18 to August 31. The complete rules can be found on the official website www.chihuahua.com.mx/mineria.
