The construction of KIA Motors´ plant will be completed in the first half of 2016, when it begins operations. Nuevo Leon was chosen to install the new KIA Motors´ plant for its geographical location, competitive manufacturing costs and benefits such as free trade agreements with strategic markets like the U.S. and Canada.
He added that Mexico is one of the largest markets in which KIA Motors had no commercial presence. The total investment that KIA will generate in Mexico is over US$2 billion, which corresponds to direct investment and investment providers for US$1 billion each. It is planned to build 300,000 vehicles during its first year and generate 10,000 jobs; 3,000 of them are employees of KIA and 7000 of suppliers, but it is expected to reach 40,000 jobs counting indirect ones.
