New Mexico State Fair will ask attendees to have their vaccinations

NEW MEXICO – The economic reopening that occurs in New Mexico now also depends on the vaccination status in which the people are, since one of the most important events for the entity, the New Mexico State Fair, will only be open to those who demonstrate that they are vaccinated against Covid-19.

In recent days, governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced new preventive measures to reduce infections, including the use of masks in public places, as well as requesting vaccinations from government and health sector workers.

Having the antiviral will also be a requirement to enter the state Balloon Fiesta fair, one of the most important events in tourism and economy in the state, the governor reported.

At the moment, the organizers of the fair are already prepared to take preventive measures in order to try to avoid contagion at this event, said Dan Murning, general people of the State Fair.

He commented that they will request that attendees show their vaccination schedule to give greater security to visitors and people who work in the place.

Three weeks after the fair takes place, the mechanisms are being implemented so that when the person enters, they demonstrate that they already have the antiviral; one of those measures is that they teach it through the cell phone.

On the part of the exhibiting farmers, he said that in the stables they use ionization technology, which eliminates the virus.

The spokesperson for that event, Tom Garrity, said that at the moment they are analyzing what prevention measures can be taken in this regard to implement the most appropriate.

Although the objective of this type of protocol is to take care of people’s health, for some it has a negative impact.

Cliff Copeland, Northeast Regional Vice President for the New Mexico Livestock Association, said that due to the timing of the announcement, some exhibitors will not be able to meet the requirement.

If they are not able to participate, it is possible that some farmers will not obtain the necessary resources to carry out other activities next year and this is because they were informed with very little time about the vaccine.

It can also happen that fewer visitors come and thus exhibitors reduce their chances of sales.
