NUEVO LAREDO – In the presence of university directors from Nuevo Laredo and the Tamaulipas River Region, as well as directors from the business sector in the area, the “Regional Meeting of Higher Education Linkages” was held, presided by the Undersecretary of Secondary and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, Guadalupe Acosta Villarreal.
This meeting between educational and university authorities and businessmen from the industrial sector, customs agencies and carriers, was held at the facilities of the Universidad Tecnológica de Nuevo Laredo (UTNL), with the purpose of dialoguing and exchanging ideas that generate a more productive and reciprocal link between higher education institutions and companies.
Acosta Villarreal highlighted the interest that exists for Tamaulipas universities to graduate better professionals, with the capacity and commitment to face the challenges of the productive sector.
“We know some things in the classrooms, but we need to know the present reality, because technology changes every day,” Acosta emphasized.
Prior to this meeting, the Undersecretary of Education also met with directors of high schools in the region, where the topic discussed was how to generate a greater link between high schools and universities.
“We want to link high school with higher education, because high school has other needs that we need to address, and that higher education needs to know, and vice versa,” he said.
José Antonio Tovar Lara, rector of UTNL, emphasized the commitment of the participants to achieve the defined objectives.
Also present were directors from the Nuevo Laredo Technological Institute, the “Cuauhtémoc” Urban Normal School, the National Pedagogical University, the University Institute of the Customs Agents Association, the Tec Milenio University, the Polytechnic University of the Ribereña Region, the North Mexican American University and the Humanistic Institute of Health.
