NUEVO LEON – The Secretary of Environment of Nuevo León and MexHub de Economía Circular A.C. signed an agreement to accelerate the transition to a circular economy in the state.
The alliance will support companies and organizations in their path towards sustainability, with concrete actions to address environmental challenges.
As a first initiative, together with Nat5 Nature-Positive Credits, a program was launched to generate biodiversity, soil, water and carbon credits under the “aOCP” standard.
The project will also finance the restoration of degraded lands and the conservation of areas of high biodiversity, offering companies the opportunity to reduce their environmental footprint and promote local economic development through the creation of rural jobs.
Among the benefits for participating companies are environmental offsets, which will enable them to reduce their carbon footprint and participate in projects that have a positive impact on biodiversity, soil, and water.
In addition, through the program, jobs and opportunities will be generated in rural communities; committed companies will receive badges that reflect their responsibility to the environment and sustainability.
Also, the initiatives will be aligned with the Net Positive 2030 Global Strategy, supporting long-term environmental goals.
“This collaboration with MexHub and Nat5 represents a step towards a more sustainable and prosperous future for our state,” said Nuevo Leon’s Secretary of the Environment, Alfonso Martinez.
For his part, Arturo Rech, President of MexHub, pointed out that by working together, government, businesses and organizations have been able to create a shared vision of regeneration and sustainability.
This alliance, say its leaders, exemplifies how collaboration between sectors drives environmental and economic solutions.
