NUEVO LEON – According to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), 10,062 jobs were generated in Nuevo Leon in April, placing the state in first place nationally, while cumulative employment from April of last year to the same month of 2021 is of 51,706 jobs, indicating that the employment lost during the Covid-19 pandemic has already been recovered.
In the accumulated period from January to April of this year, 38,564 jobs were added, while in the same period of 2020, 35,710 jobs were lost.
Manufacturing continues to drive employment, although it lost 980 jobs in April 2020, it generated 24,437 jobs in the same month of this year.
In the services sector, 14,740 jobs were lost due to the closure of non-essential activities due to the health contingency, while in April of this year, 5,271 jobs were generated in this segment.
Likewise, the construction industry lost 19,093 jobs in the same period of 2020, while in April 2021, 3,482 jobs were created.
On the other hand, the commerce sector lost 283 jobs in April of last year and had a significant rebound in the same month of this year with 2,091 jobs created.
In terms of new job creation, Nuevo Leon leads with 10,062 positions, followed by Jalisco (7,265), Quintana Roo (6,996), State of Mexico (6,814) and Chihuahua (4,863).
