The governor of Nuevo Leon, Jaime Rodriguez Calderon, informed that an investment of US$33 million is to be made for the construction of the Pollux photovoltaic plant in the municipality of Galeana. Rodriguez Calderon presented the project, which will strengthen the electricity grid in the region and help maintain a better quality in the electricity supply. Ultimately, the plant’s purpose is to benefit the rural sector of southern Nuevo Leon.

“This is historic, no one has ever invested so much money in the southern part of the state,” the governor said.

Rodriguez Calderon emphasized that the project will generate power of approximately 90.8 gigawatts, equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 45,000 inhabitants. Jose Rodolfo Farias Arizpe, head of the Secretaria de Desarrollo Agropecuario of the state, stressed that the investment will boost the regional economy in the short term.

The photovoltaic plant will generate 300 direct jobs; however, construction and manufacturing companies are already in the process of getting hired.
