MCALLEN, TX – The American Public Works Association (APWA Texas Chapter) and the McAllen Convention and Visitors Bureau announced that they have won the bid to host the 2025 Conference.
This conference is a multi-day educational and networking event with a program tailored to public works employees, including managers, supervisors and field personnel, as well as the consultants, suppliers and manufacturers who support and do business with them.
In addition, the conference is one of the Texas Chapter’s most important events and represents one of the major funding sources used to support its ongoing operation.
“We are very pleased that the Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association have chosen McAllen for their 2025 Conference. We look forward to hosting the organization and are eager to continue to welcome them for future meetings and conferences,” said Maritza Muñoz, Director of Conventions and Tourism for Visit McAllen.
Elvira I Alonzo, Director of Public Works and Treasurer of the Texas Chapter Board, explained that the association serves professionals in every aspect by providing access to the best education and training programs in the field.
“Public Works provides services that are part of residents’ daily lives and are essential to their health and safety. The American Public Works Association serves professionals in all aspects of public works and holding this conference in McAllen allows access to the best public works education and training programs, as well as networking opportunities with public works professionals for ideas, advice and career opportunities,” Alonzo said.
The June conference, which will be held at the McAllen Convention Center, is expected to attract more than 500 attendees and generate an economic impact of more than $262,500.
