The municipal government of Piedras Negras held a meeting with Héctor Ochoa, General Coordinator of the Northern Border Economic Corridor, with the aim of strengthening inter-institutional collaboration in the area of economic development.
During the meeting, strategies were discussed to position the city as a strategic location for investment, trade, and job creation. One of the agreements was to promote the “Made in Mexico” brand, which seeks to give greater visibility to local products and services through a distinctive seal recognized nationally and internationally.
They also addressed the implementation of the Polos de Bienestar (Well-being Hubs), an initiative promoted by the federal Ministry of Economy, which aims to foster economic growth at the local level through the integration of productive sectors, regional talent, and social development programs.
Mayor Jacobo Rodríguez said that joint work with the federal and state governments will continue to strengthen conditions for economic development in the region.
According to municipal authorities, Piedras Negras has key logistical advantages for trade with the United States, which represents an opportunity to attract export-oriented investment. The city is part of the Northern Economic Corridor, a strip that seeks to coordinate infrastructure, industry, and services to boost regional growth.
In the coming weeks, technical roundtables are planned with representatives from the business sector, industrial chambers, and academics, with the aim of defining specific projects that can be incorporated into the national strategy. These actions seek to consolidate Piedras Negras as a competitive hub within the border corridor.
