The Port of Altamira, in Tamaulipas, was included among the Economic Development Poles for Well-Being (PODECOBI), a strategy announced by the federal government as part of the so-called Plan Mexico. The designation was confirmed by Secretary Marcelo Ebrard during a public conference.
These poles seek to encourage investment and strengthen productive chains through strategic infrastructure, tax benefits and administrative facilities in regions with economic potential.
The Secretary of Economy of Tamaulipas, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, pointed out that the inclusion of Altamira in the program recognizes the importance of the port as a logistic and industrial node in the country. She also pointed out that work is already underway in coordination with federal and municipal authorities to generate conditions that favor the development of the project.
Among the planned actions, the official mentioned the design of incentives for investments in machinery, technical training programs with a dual education model, and the promotion of innovation within the state’s business ecosystem.
The Altamira Development Pole seeks to take advantage of the region’s strategic location and port infrastructure to attract new investments and strengthen industrial activity in Tamaulipas.
