The industrial bearing company Rexnord confirmed that 300 job positions will be moved from the Indianapolis plant to Nuevo Leon. The leader of the 1999 branch of the United Steelworkers union, Chuck Jones, said that Rexnord, a firm based in Milwaukee, and the workers he represents, have reached an agreement that “gives a certain security and benefits” to 300 workers who will lose their jobs at the Indianapolis bearing plant.
The Rexnord headquarters will be close to those of Carrier Corporation, which was under harsh criticism by Trump during his electoral campaign for relocating jobs to Mexico. Afterward, Trump promoted an agreement to save hundreds of those jobs in exchange of state taxes cut-downs and subventions valued at roughly US$7 million.
