SAN DIEGO, CA – PepsiCo announced that CHUZA, a San Diego-based Mexican-inspired snack company, was the winner of the eighth class of the Greenhouse Accelerator program.
This year marks the first Juntos Crecemos edition of PepsiCo’s Greenhouse Accelerator program, focused on supporting emerging Hispanic companies in the food and beverage industry.
The company, founded by Daniel Schwarz, elevates the world of snacking through an assortment of spicy fruits and vegetables, all infused with 100% Mexican spices and no artificial flavors or colors.
As a winner of the program, CHUZA will receive a $100,000 grant and other resources to expand its operations and grow its business.
“It is truly an honor to have been selected as a winner of the PepsiCo Greenhouse Accelerator: Together We Grow Edition among such a talented group of participants,” said Schwarz. “Over the past six months, my business has experienced significant expansion and efficiency, all thanks to the invaluable guidance and support provided by PepsiCo mentors.”
The selection of the winner follows an extensive application and review process that began in April, and a finalist selection process in July that included a $20,000 grant and invaluable business resources for each of the 10 finalists.
“In this year’s PepsiCo Greenhouse Accelerator: Juntos Crecemos Edition, we witnessed ten exceptionally skilled Hispanic companies take innovation to the next level with PepsiCo’s mentorship and entrepreneurial resources,” said Esperanza Teasdale, Vice President and General Manager, Hispanic Business Unit, PepsiCo Beverages North America. “We congratulate CHUZA, as well as all of the participants who demonstrated true leadership in advancing the future of the food and beverage industry.”
PepsiCo Greenhouse Accelerator is a six-month accelerator program that offers emerging food and beverage companies the opportunity to access expert guidance, funding and assistance to help them grow and achieve their business goals.
