SAN DIEGO – Due to the rise in Covid-19 infections that have occurred in California and so that public events are not canceled, as of september 20, all those attending these places must present their proof of vaccination or, failing that, a document where they certify that they are not infected, which must not exceed 72 hours old.
Given this, the Director of the California Department of Health, Tomas J. Aragón, said that this determination was made because the Delta variant has proven to be highly contagious.
Requesting these documents is expected to reduce the risk of infection, hospitalization and even death.
According to the new rules, in indoor events with more than 1,000 people, everyone is required to present proof of vaccination or, failing that, a negative test for Covid-19.
Regarding this, Pechanga Arena San Diego –a sports venue located in San Diego- expressed being in favor of the measure, since in this way the health, safety and protection of clients, artists, athletes and associates is protected.
On its official website, it indicates that “you attest that you and all the members of your group will comply with the vaccination requirements or tests with which it is detailed not to be infected.”
For weeks, some smaller places in San Diego, such as restaurants, have already implemented this measure, believing that it is the least they can do to protect customers and workers from contagion.
Even in New Mexico at least one nightclub already asks its clients to present their vaccination card or otherwise, to prove they are not infected.
This type of measure has been appreciated by several citizens such as Virginia Saenz, who commented that every weekend prior to the pandemic, she used to go out with her friends, however now that businesses are reopening their doors to reactivate their economy, it is It is important to have a guarantee that all people are vaccinated and free of coronavirus.
“For young people it is very difficult to stay at home. In the end we work for that, to have fun, but we don’t want to be afraid that the people at the other table are infected. It is fair to get vaccinated and ask us for the receipt when entering the places to have the peace of mind that our life is not in danger, “he said.
