Schneider Electric USA, Inc. a subsidiary of Schneider Electric SE, announced the modernization and expansion of its electrical equipment manufacturing facility at its El Paso campus.
The project, which includes a multi-million dollar investment, will create 300 new jobs in the region. As part of this plan, the company will receive a US$1.5 million grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF).
The facility expansion aims to increase production capacity for medium-voltage switchgear, which is essential for the data center market in Texas and the United States. Schneider Electric, which specializes in energy management, industrial automation and digital platforms, has highlighted El Paso’s strategic role in its manufacturing operations.
State and local authorities have highlighted the importance of this investment for the region’s economy. Governor Greg Abbott noted that the company’s expansion reinforces Texas’ leadership in advanced manufacturing and technology. El Paso Mayor Renard Johnson said Schneider Electric’s decision underscores the city’s favorable environment for business and economic development.
El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego noted that the investment reaffirms the company’s commitment to the region and strengthens its workforce and local economy. Similarly, Jon Barela, CEO of Borderplex Alliance, emphasized that the decision to reinvest in the area supports the region’s competitiveness in attracting innovative companies.
The announcement has also been recognized by county and city officials, who have expressed their support for the company’s expansion and its impact on job creation and economic growth.
Schneider Electric already has a significant presence in El Paso and, in September 2023, opened one of its manufacturing plants in the city. With this new investment, the company seeks to consolidate its position in the sector and contribute to the electrification, digitalization and automation in the United States.
