BAJA CALIFORNIA – The State Energy Commission and the Mexican Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles (AMIVE) have formalized a collaboration agreement whose main objective is to strengthen sustainable energy strategies and promote electric mobility in Baja California.
The initiative was announced by the Secretary of Economy and Innovation, Kurt Honold Morales, who highlighted the relevance of this alliance in the context of sustainable development in the region.
The agreement seeks to give a significant boost to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the commitment to ensure access to safe, affordable, sustainable and modern energy.
According to Honold Morales, this effort responds to Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s instruction to work on innovative solutions to address challenges such as the transition to zero-emission transportation, including both freight transportation and the private use of electric vehicles.
AMIVE, which is part of the emerging electromobility ecosystem in Mexico, will play a crucial role as a liaison between global and local opportunities in the sector. This organization works to represent and unify the sector’s voices on policies and regulations, in addition to fostering the growth of the electric mobility industry in the country.
This effort is also aligned with the strategies of the Federal Government, which has identified electromobility as a priority on the road to a more sustainable economy.
The agreement includes the promotion of public policies, the strengthening of infrastructure for electric vehicles, and the development of educational and awareness programs on the benefits of electric mobility and energy sustainability.
In addition, the possibility of promoting investments to expand the network of electric charging stations in Baja California will be explored, an essential step to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles in the region.
With this agreement, Baja California seeks to position itself as a benchmark in the transition to a cleaner and more efficient energy model, working hand in hand with strategic allies such as AMIVE to promote a sustainable future.
