BAJA CALIFORNIA – In order to encourage recycling and promote the circular economy, the Baja California Department of Environment and Sustainable Development (SMADS), signed a collaboration agreement with Ecología y Compromiso Empresarial (ECOCE), which contemplates the installation of containers to collect material for recycling in the offices of the state agency.
The head of SMADS, Mónica Juliana Vega Aguirre, urged the agency’s staff to seek out socially responsible organizations that share the same ideals as this government.
“In a world where climate change and waste management are crucial issues, this agreement marks a milestone in our journey towards a more conscious and responsible society,” said Vega Aguirre prior to the signing of the agreement.
The agreement formalizes the coordination of the Ministry’s environmental education programs with those of ECOCE, adding the placement of containers for proper waste management in the agency’s offices in the municipalities of Tijuana, Mexicali and Ensenada.
On behalf of ECOCE, its director, Jorge Terrazas, explained that during this year the agency seeks to strengthen its links with the different states, in the case of Baja California, actions will be implemented to repair waste, collection and environmental education, in order to also promote the circular economy.
