The Japanese group Softbank is investing a total of US$940 million in the Californian firm Nuro, focused on non-driver vehicles for home delivery of supermarket purchases.
According to financier Nikkei, the investment was confirmed by Nuro from its headquarters in Montain View, California. With this investment the company is valued at US$2.7 million.
Softbank is investing heavily in Internet sales companies and home delivery firms, says Nikkei.
Among the companies that have received financial support from this group is Zume Pizza in California, which has trucks equipped with remote-controlled ovens that start cooking pizza to the customer’s home.
