SONORA – Members of the private initiative generated 15,970 new jobs in the entity during the first two months of 2019, reported the minister of Economy of Sonora, Jorge Vidal Ahumada.

In a press statement, the officer stressed that these numbers allocated Sonora as the 5th state with the higher employment generation in the country, after states such as Jalisco, Nuevo León, Baja California y Querétaro. It is important to mention that an accumulated economic growth of 6.9% during the last 3 years, which translates into an increase of 2.3% annually, places Sonora as the 9th largest contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the country, he added.

Vidal Ahumada stated that Sonora contributes 3.3% to total national GDP, with a State Gross Domestic Product (GDPE) value of US$29 billion.

“We have to remember that Sonora came from the 2.2% of the total PIB contribution and this step is very important”, he assured.

The minister of Economy added as well that this result is the cumulus of the evolutionary process of the state of Sonora’s economy and this administration brings a good pace.
