SONORA – The industrial sector has recovered the jobs lost during the COVID-19 pandemic more than the rest of the economic activities carried out in Sonora, this is due to the economic reactivation of the United States.
“From May 2020 to May 2021, the industrial sector in the State recovered 14,207 jobs, 2,277 in the services sector, while the agricultural sector registered a loss of 1,137 due to the conclusion of the harvest cycles, and 664 in the electric sector”, explained economist Marco Antonio Córdova Gálvez.
He pointed out that within the industrial sector, the economic activities that have grown the most during this period are: Manufacturing with 7,397 jobs, construction with 6,157 and mining with 653.
Córdova Gálvez mentioned that in the services sector, commerce contributed with 1,430 jobs, professional services for businesses and homes were 1,064, and transportation and communications with 537.

The academic from the University of Sonora predicted that in the following months the process of recovery of jobs in the different economic sectors will be more accelerated, mainly in the industrial sector because it is more closely linked to the U.S. economy.
