SONORA – The state of Sonora registered an increase in industrial manufacturing activity, according to data from the State Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
According to the governor, Alfonso Durazo Montaño, the state showed its best start to the year in its history, by registering a 12.6 percent rise in industrial manufacturing activity during January 2024, compared to January 2023.
The government of Sonora pointed out that this places the state in third place nationally in this economic category, according to figures presented by Inegi.
Based on the results, Sonora said to maintain the leadership in the border with economic growth in the state, through industrial activity, which recorded an overall increase of 6.2 percent in the annual variation of January this year, compared to January 2023.
In manufacturing activity, the state stood out for its growth in real terms, ranking only behind San Luis Potosí, which recorded an interannual increase of 15.4 percent, and Oaxaca, which recorded an interannual increase of 20.4 percent.
Meanwhile, Sonora is the second state with the second highest increase in the contribution to the total variation of the country’s manufacturing industrial sector. According to these indicators, the state maintained a constant growth rate as recorded in 2023.
