CHIHUAHUA – The Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE) of Chihuahua presented a strategy to strengthen the growth of the state to business, social and academic leaders.
Ulises Fernández Gamboa, head of SIDE, highlighted to members of the Regional Economic Development Council (CODER) of Chihuahua City, that the initiative seeks to strengthen economic growth.
The session was led by Antonio Valadez García, president of CODER Chihuahua, and was attended by Mayor Marco Bonilla Mendoza, as well as authorities and representatives of more than 50 public and private organizations, where they discussed the challenges and opportunities of the region, as well as the progress that has been made in recent years.
During his speech, Ulises Fernandez highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public, private and academic sectors to generate a competitive environment aligned with the current and future challenges of the state. He stressed the need to consolidate a productive development policy, which not only promotes investment, but also allows for the identification of strategic areas of specialization, innovation and talent development.
“The main challenge we face is how to integrate the various regional strategies and policies into a unified vision that strengthens our economic ecosystem. Our goal is for each investment to be strategically focused, prioritizing those areas that will allow us to maximize the impact in terms of employment, exports and business growth,” said Fernandez Gamboa.
Among the key issues discussed during the meeting was the creation of the State Fund for Science, Technology and Innovation, with an initial investment of $80 million by the state government, with the commitment to attract counterparts from the private sector. This fund is aimed at projects that generate jobs, increase the competitiveness of local companies and strengthen Chihuahua’s innovation ecosystem.
Finally, the Secretary reaffirmed the commitment to the implementation of public policies that ensure comprehensive economic development, focused on productivity, innovation and sustainable growth, and reiterated that coordination between the different levels of government and sectors involved will be key to achieving the established goals.
