TAMAULIPAS – The Secretary of Economy of Tamaulipas, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, held a working meeting with executives of Woodside Energy Trión, an Australian company that will invest US$11.6 billion in oil extraction in the Trión field, located in the Folded Belt about 180 kilometers off the coast of Tamaulipas.
The purpose of the meeting, which took place in the state capital, was to strengthen coordination between the parties to promote a joint agenda to support the development of the project and detonate the associated economic activities in the region.
In this sense, it was agreed that the Ministry of Economy will provide the necessary support to Woodside Energy Trion so that the project is developed in a responsible and sustainable manner, with the objective of generating jobs and opportunities for the people of Tamaulipas.
“Governor Américo Villarreal’s instruction has been that all investment projects should have a humanistic vision that favors better opportunities for the people of Tamaulipas and contributes to the well-being of families,” Cantú Deándar said.
“We are very pleased to find in Woodside Energy Trion, willingness and disposition to work with this approach for the benefit of Tamaulipas,” he added.
For his part, Woodside Energy Trion’s vice president, Stephan Drouaud, assured that the company is committed to meeting the highest standards of sustainability and social responsibility.
“We are convinced that this project can be an opportunity for the economic and social development of Tamaulipas,” he said.
Officials from the Ministry of Economy, as well as representatives from Woodside Energy Trion, also participated in the work meeting.
