The Secretary of Economy of Tamaulipas, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, and the Consul General of Canada for Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, and Coahuila, Annabelle Larouche, conducted a series of meetings in the metropolitan area of Tampico, Ciudad Madero, and Altamira to examine opportunities for economic cooperation and investment.
In Altamira, the officials met with municipal authorities from Tampico and Madero, as well as representatives from the local Ministry of Economy. The discussions focused on the competitive advantages of the municipalities and the potential for promoting strategic alliances.
According to the state Ministry of Economy, Canada ranks among the top investing countries in Tamaulipas, contributing over US$35 million in investments so far in 2025 within the framework of the USMCA.
In Tampico, Cantú and Larouche held a session with private sector representatives, including Lorena Rivera, vice president of the Council of Business Institutions of Southern Tamaulipas (CIEST), and Adonay Navarro, president of the Association of Industrialists of Southern Tamaulipas (AISTAC). The discussion highlighted the region’s logistics infrastructure, skilled workforce, and the role of the business community in local development projects.
The agenda also included visits to the ports of Altamira and Tampico, along with meetings with executives from national and international companies operating in the area.
