Tamaulipas maquiladora employees receive COVID-19 vaccines in the U.S.

TEXAS – In order to reactivate the economy on the northern border and strengthen trade between Texas and Tamaulipas, maquiladora employees in Reynosa received the COVID-19 vaccine on U.S. soil.

This program seeks to boost and strengthen the supply of goods between the United States and the Mexican border by providing maquiladora workers in the city with a single dose of Johnson & Johnson pharmaceuticals.

“The vaccination program, will help protect employees of our largest trading partner from becoming infected with the virus and allow our trade relations to strengthen the economy,” said Hidalgo County Judge, Richard Cortez.

The first stage of the program involves the application of 3,000 doses to an equal number of maquiladora workers in Reynosa.

However, it is expected that the authorities will be able to provide another 5,000 vaccines, which will be applied to more workers and thus help the economic reactivation of the region.
