TAMAULIPAS – Tourism in Tamaulipas showed during the first three quarters of 2024 a growth with respect to the number of jobs, affirmed the Secretary of Tourism, Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez.
The official highlighted that based on information published by INEGI, at national level at the end of the third quarter of the year, the entity advanced from 17th to 13th place in the sector’s growth, with 128 thousand 014 jobs, that is an increase of 6.72 percent with respect to the same quarter of 2023.
Hernandez explained that jobs continue to recover in the tertiary sector in restaurants and accommodation services, after the fall that occurred from the second quarter of 2020.
Also, the secretary highlighted that in the first quarter of 2024 alone, Tamaulipas was in 17th place in employment growth with respect to the first quarter of 2023.
According to the Tourism Activity Information System of the state of Tamaulipas with data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), in the second quarter of 2024 Tamaulipas advanced to 16th place with respect to the second quarter of 2023, while in the third quarter of 2024 Tamaulipas was in 13th place, advancing four places.
As a result, jobs in tourism activities increased in the state, while states such as Oaxaca, Guerrero, Nuevo León, Baja California Sur, Colima, Querétaro, Tabasco, the State of Mexico, San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo and Zacatecas registered red numbers.
