TEXAS – Texans’ spending during the month of November presented an improvement in relation to the numbers reached in 2020, as reported by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas (Dallas Fed).
The agency detailed that relative to January 2020 levels, consumer spending in Texas has steadily improved and also in lodging and food services.
In its December report, Dallas Fed indicated that since March 2021, Texans’ spending has remained above pre-pandemic levels.
It also stated that as of November 14, total debit and credit card spending in the state was 27.5% above January 2020 levels. On the other hand, spending on accommodation and food services reached a new high of 24.7%.
Among the cities that have shown improvement in credit and/or debit card spending is El Paso, as consumers in that county have once again positioned themselves above pre-pandemic Covid-19 levels.
According to the Dallas Fed, as of November 7, spending in El Paso County was up 19.5% since January 2020.
On the other hand, tracktherecovery.org noted that as of November 14 of this year, spending by El Pasoans had registered an increase of up to 22.1%. During that same date but in 2020, the statistics showed a decrease of 14.5%.
According to Dallas Fed reports, since January of this year, spending in El Paso County has shown improvement, although with a series of ups and downs due to the impacts that the pandemic has brought to the different economic sectors.
Last June 4, 2021, was when El Paso reached the highest spending levels with an increase of up to 27.3%, and since the end of August, it has maintained increases above 10%.
