DALLAS – Experts say that Texas would not have the population level required to sustain the workforce it needs without the Hispanic families who contribute to the state’s population growth.

“We would be in a very precarious economic situation in the state because we have a thriving economy. With economic growth it is important to have a growing workforce,” said state demographer Lloyd Potter.

Immigrants who arrived in waves, mainly from Mexico during the 80s, 90s, and early 20th century, as well as the children they had in the United States, have been essential in maintaining the population at almost the necessary rate of growth.
