TEXAS – Family-owned Messina Hof, Texas’ largest wine producer, is breaking ground later in 2019 on what will become the largest winery in the Houston area – and it will be located inside of a planned living community.

The winery will be built in the 1,300 acre mater-planned community of Harvest Green in Richmond, Texas just outside of Houston, according to The Houston Chronicle. The living community, where homes run at US$290,000 for a 3 bedroom, already features a working farm, an amphitheater, a lake and event space.

“Our community partner in this project, Harvest Green, is an agriculture-based farm community that aligns with our passions in farm-to-table foods paired with great local wine,” owner and operator Paul Bonarrigo told The Houston Chronicle.

The winery will also serve as the company’s second largest production facility in a state with over 4,000 acres of vineyards. Though you may not think of Texas as traditional wine country, Messina Hof’s more than 70 Texas wines have earned them almost 1,300 awards both internationally and in the U.S.
