
The automotive industry has emerged as the sector with the highest number of labor disputes in Chihuahua over the past three years and so far in 2026, according to official data from the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration (CFCRL), which reported handling 26,828 individual cases in the state.
The data was provided in response to a freedom of information request and corresponds to records from the Chihuahua State Office and the Ciudad Juárez Support Office, as of May 6, 2026.
The figures show that the federal agency’s workload has remained high in recent years.
In 2023, 6,811 cases were handled; in 2024, the figure rose to 8,401; by 2025, it reached its highest level with 8,973 cases, while in the first months of 2026, 2,643 cases had already been filed.
Industrial activity accounts for the majority of labor disputes that reach the conciliation body.
Of the total cases recorded during the period analyzed, 14,099 were in the industrial sector, followed by healthcare with 2,796, government with 2,446, electricity, water, and gas with 1,748, mining with 1,700, logistics with 1,511, media with 1,383, and finance with 924 cases.
When analyzing the breakdown by industry sector, the automotive sector tops the list with 6,329 cases, making it the economic segment with the highest number of labor disputes statewide.
Other industrial sectors followed with 5,203 cases, and the food production industry with 3,104.
Also notable are agencies administered by the Federal Government with 2,675 cases, federal contracts or concessions and related matters with 1,772, the mining industry with 1,689, and the beverage manufacturing industry with 1,446.
The information provided by the CFCRL also reveals the outcomes of the proceedings.
Of the total cases handled between2023 and 2026, 5,901 were concluded without a settlement agreement or due to the failure of one of the parties involved to appear.
The years with the highest number of cases closed without settlement were 2024 with 1,795 cases, followed by 2023 with 1,787 and 2025 with 1,650. By the first few months of 2026, 669 cases had already accumulated under this category.
By economic sector, the government recorded the highest number of cases without settlement with 1,678 cases, followed by industry with 1,437, health with 956, finance with 411, logistics with 403, mining with 371, media with 321, and electricity, water, and gas with 280.
Within the industrial sectors, the highest levels of non-conciliation were concentrated in other industrial sectors with 2,099 cases, agencies administered by the Federal Government with 830, the food production industry with 489, local business activity with 484, and the automotive sector with 476 cases. There were also 459 cases involving federal contracts or concessions and related matters, 367 in mining, and 293 in banking and credit activities.
Despite the volume of proceedings processed, the agency reported that only four cases remained pending at the time of the report’s preparation. Two were in the logistics sector, one in government, and another in mining.
