EL PASO, TX – The TJX Companies is looking to create more than 1,000 jobs in El Paso, Texas by the end of this year with the recent opening of its mega distribution center.
The nearly 2 million-square-foot warehouse, located at 3900 Global Reach Drive near El Paso International Airport (EPIA), opened in January of this year and currently employs 500 people.
Andrew Mastrangelo, assistant vice president of Global Communications for The TJX Companies, Inc. noted that the center is expected to create about 1,000 new general and 150 administrative jobs.
“We are slowly ramping up operations at the facility and expect it to be fully operational by the end of this year,” Mastrangelo said.
In October 2020, the company reported plans to open a distribution center in El Paso, with an investment of approximately $150 million.
The Marmaxx division posted sales of $30.5 billion in fiscal 2023, which ended Jan. 28, up 4% from the previous year. Its three online e-commerce sites, including marshalls.com, accounted for less than 3% of those sales.
In addition, according to its recent financial reports, TJX had nearly $50 billion in worldwide sales and a profit of $3.5 billion in fiscal 2023.
TJX is the leading retailer of off-price apparel and home goods in the United States and other countries. Some of its subsidiaries include TJ Maxx stores, Marshalls, HomeGoods, among others. The company operates more than 4,500 stores in nine countries.
