HERMOSILLO – After 24 years of operation in two cities in the state of Sonora, the manufacturing companies of the Cactex and Alstyle textile industry will close their three plants, which will result in a cut of nearly 2,000 jobs.
Gerardo Vázquez Falcón, president of Index Sonora, informed that the closing will be effective by January 2020, and the cut of employees will take place from January 2020 to March 2021.
The plants belong to the American corporate Gildan Brands and operate in the cities of Hermosillo and Agua Prieta. The main reason for withdrawal from the state is to look for better conditions to conduct business somewhere else.
“The employees, who add up to almost 2,000, will be compensated 100% with their integrated salaries,” explained Vázquez Falcón.
The president of Index stressed that Cactex and Alstyle are not the first companies to leave Sonora, which should serve as an example for entrepreneurs, authorities, and unions regarding dynamism, as well as it should speak for the delicacy of manufacturing companies.
