TIJUANA, BC – Toyota will invest US$336 million to install a new automotive plant in the city of Tijuana, Baja California.
According to the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, during her administration the state has received more than five thousand US$300 million from foreign direct investment.
The governor highlighted that this year investments in the order of US$3 billion were committed in Baja California, and 44% of this commitment is for Mexicali.
Del Pilar announced that for the municipality of Tijuana, Toyota will invest US$336 million, which will include the installation of an automotive plant to generate hundreds of jobs.
“The president of Toyota in Mexico spoke to me to announce the important investment of more than US$336 million that they are going to make in their Toyota plant in Baja California, in Tijuana, which will create more than 1,200 jobs for the people of Tijuana,” he said.
Currently, Baja California occupies the first place in economic growth among the northern states of the country, and is recognized as the region with the highest increase in wages nationwide.
The Government of Baja California highlighted that together with universities and technology centers, it has worked in the training of talent, which will allow the development of activities that are highly demanded worldwide today.
